Driver cores are modules equipped with all the basic functions of a driver such as electrical separation, protective functions, DC/DC converters etc.

They are mounted on a circuit board containing all the additional components required to match the driver to specific IGBTs or applications, such as an input interface, gate resistors, active clamping etc. Driver cores for IGBTs are available with reverse voltages from 600V to 3300V.

They are also suited for driving power MOSFETs.

The driver cores listed in the table below were developed as pin-compatible replacements for older drivers. They are based on the same SCALE chipset as all other SCALE drivers, but are more expensive than the standard SCALE driver cores due to higher manufacturing costs and smaller production quantities. The standard SCALE drivers (see above) are recommended for cost-intensive applications. The drivers shown below are also recommended for new developments in applications for which an extremely compact design is critical.
