Short Description

The 2SB315B is a dual-channel driver based on CONCEPT’s 2SD315AI SCALE driver core, a proven technology for the reliable driving and safe operation of IGBTs.  The drivers are fully equipped with protection functions such as Vce-monitoring for short-circuit protection, operation inhibit after fault and supply-undervoltage shutdown.

The driver is matched to several dual IGBT modules with dimensions of 130mm x 140mm. Its plug-and-play capability makes it ready to operate immediately after mounting. The user needs invest no effort in designing or adjusting it to a specific application.

The driver supplies a gate current of ±15A. Operating the gates with a bipolar control voltage (typically ±15V) allows the IGBT modules to be driven reliably with high immunity to interference.

The drivers feature an active clamping function, which is the most rugged and high-performance way to protect the costly IGBTs.

The on-board DC/DC converter provides a self-contained insulated power supply of 3W per channel.
 
The driver supports two independent driver channels or a half-bridge with internal dead-time generation.

Fiber-optic Interface Options

Fiber-optic links are used for the electrical insulation of the command and status-feedback signals. The fiber-optic interfaces ensure high noise immunity.

Two versions of fiber-optic interfaces are available:  "versatile links" and "ST links" with threaded ports. For details, check the product documentation.


Reliability

SCALE drivers have been established on the market as an industrial standard since 1999. They have been tried and tested within hundreds of thousands of industrial and traction applications. The calculated MTBF according to MIL Hdbk 217F is 10 million hours at 40ºC. According to field data, the actual reliability is even higher.
